Full Bio
Eric Schakel's journey through music began far from the pulsing techno capitals—in the quiet countryside of the Netherlands, where vast open spaces and natural silence shaped his early sonic sensibilities. This rural foundation proved transformative, instilling in him a deep respect for space, texture, and the power of restraint. As his musical consciousness expanded, Eric found himself drawn to the sophisticated intersection of ambient music and electronic production, discovering that the most profound dance music often whispers before it roars.
Based in Rotterdam, Eric has developed a distinctive approach to DJing that reflects his dual heritage—half meditative sound designer, half hypnotic techno curator. His productions move fluidly between genres, crafting atmospheric techno that never loses sight of its emotional core, and ambient soundscapes that contain an underlying propulsive energy. This artistic duality has become his signature, allowing him to connect with audiences across different listening contexts. Whether designing immersive sonic environments or leading a dance floor through carefully constructed peaks and valleys, Eric treats each set as a complete journey rather than a collection of tracks.
For venue operators seeking something beyond conventional booking, Eric Schakel represents a thoughtful alternative—an artist whose commitment to atmospheric depth and sonic architecture creates memorable experiences in intimate spaces. His productions and live sets embody a philosophy where every element serves the greater narrative, transforming clubs and smaller venues into spaces for genuine connection and discovery. With a focus on national touring throughout the Netherlands, Eric continues to carve his own path in electronic music, one immersive set at a time.
