Biological is a Rotterdam-based veteran of dance music since the early '90s, blending deep house, tech house, and breakbeats with authentic analog warmth. With a new record label (Controversial Music), fresh collaborations, and a decade-long production resurgence, he's ready to deliver sets that feel genuinely human—no algorithms, just pure dancefloor intuition.

Short Bio
Biological (Angelo Faassen) is a seasoned dance music producer and DJ with nearly 35 years of industry experience. Rooted in the breakbeat and rave culture of the '90s—inspired by icons like The Prodigy—he's carved out a distinctive sound spanning deep house, tech house, and techno. After establishing himself with releases on respected labels like EC Records (1996) and Music People, Biological stepped back to work as a certified Apple Logic Pro trainer while developing his craft in education and game audio design. Now reinvigorated, he's launched his own imprint, Controversial Music, and is collaborating internationally as Broken Hz with Portugal's Nelson Santos. His philosophy remains constant: music with human feel, untouched by artificial intelligence.
Full Bio
Biological's journey through electronic music reads like a map of dance culture itself. Emerging in Rotterdam during the explosive early '90s—when The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim were reshaping what electronic music could be—Angelo Faassen channeled that raw energy into his own sound. Rather than chase trends, he developed a signature style that merged the aggressive breakbeats of that era with the deeper, more hypnotic textures of deep house and tech house. His 1996 release on Michel de Hey's respected EC Records marked the beginning of a serious production career, establishing Biological as a thoughtful architect of groove rather than a trend-chaser. After years of active DJ work and production, Biological made a strategic pivot that would deepen his artistry. He became a certified Apple Logic Pro trainer, channeling his expertise into the next generation while simultaneously working in sound design, animation, and game audio at educational institutions. This wasn't a retreat from dance music—it was a recalibration. During this period, he organized club events under the moniker Somethin'else and continued producing relentlessly, honing a production process rooted in authentic human musicianship. Every sound was intentional; every arrangement a conversation between artist and machine, never machine and algorithm. Today, Biological is fully embracing his comeback with renewed vision. He's established Controversial Music, his own record label dedicated to releasing music that prioritizes human feel over AI-generated convenience. Beyond solo work, he's expanded his creative reach through Broken Hz, a dynamic collaboration with Nelson Santos that pushes his sound into fresh territory. Based in Rotterdam with an international touring radius, Biological now plays venues from 300 to 1000+ capacity, delivering DJ sets and live performances that capture three decades of dance music evolution. His monthly residency at Club Rotterdam keeps him connected to his home city while he scales new heights in a scene that has, ultimately, never stopped needing his particular brand of authentic, soul-driven dance music.
